0 tons/year
Worldwide plastic input into the oceans through rivers [t/a]

The current plastic input into the oceans is estimated at 1.15 to 2.41 million t/a [1] or in other sources even at 4.8 to 12.7 million t/a [2].

0 years
Duration until complete decomposition of the plastic [years]

Depending on the type of plastic, it can take between 350 and 400 years or many more to completely decompose the plastic discharged into the sea. [3]

0 tons
The estimated amount of plastic waste in the sea [tons]

The exact amount of plastic in our oceans cannot be accurately determined. Various estimates assume that 86 million tons of plastic have been introduced so far. [4]

About ZIM Network

Aims

The ZIM network is dedicated to the ecological upgrading of running, inland and marine waters. The focus is not only on the regional market, with an emphasis on central Germany, but also on the ability to act worldwide. Both active and passive systems and processes for water purification are developed, manufactured and tested. This is based on the expertise and specialist know-how of partners from the growth core of Fluss-Strom Plus. These resources are bundled with those of the new network partners and used for the innovative

development of systems to reduce waste in water bodies.

In the long term, this should result in energy-generating turbo machines with an ecological cleaning effect. Through this integration of functions, several technical functions can be realized with as few components as possible, thereby reducing costs and optimizing economic efficiency.

Solutions and strategies are to be found in all phases of a pollution cycle for wide range of application. In order to achieve this, care must be taken to ensure that services are as comprehensive as possible. If necessary, a complete water purification system, consisting of..:

  • Water surface – Separation of macroscopic impurities close to the surface,
  • Flow body – filtration of micro- and micro-plastic from the water body,
  • Water bottom – Detection and recovery of metal scrap and world war material,

can be realized.

Network partners

In order to build and expand the technological competence, seasoned and competent experts from small and medium-sized enterprises with a focus on Central Germany as well as highly specialized professionals from the field of research have joined together to form a ZIM partner network.
