Three institutes of Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg is currently involved in the ZIM network CleanRiverSolutions.
The research in the Chair of Electrical Drive Systems at the Institute of Electrical Energy Systems focuses on the individual elements – electrical machine, control system, and power electronic actuator – as well as their interaction in an overall system. In addition to the development of new concepts and the further development of existing concepts for the optimization of such systems, new fields of application for electrical machines are also being developed.
Institute of Fluid Dynamics and Thermodynamics (ISUT) and the Laboratory of Fluid Dynamics and Technical Flows (LSS) at the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg are specialized in the field of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for a variety of different problems. The chair is one of the world’s leading research institutions for the optimal design of complex flows based on numerical flow simulation. The main focus of research at the chair is on complex flows (multi-phase, turbulent, complex-rheological, reactive), optimization of flow processes and fluid energy machines.
In 2009, the Chair of Technical Chemistry at the Institute of Chemistry was established with a focus on “Functionalized Materials”. The chair is headed by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Franziska Scheffler and its core competencies include the development, modification and characterization of functional materials and coatings for adsorption, catalysis and energetic applications. Projects that have already been successfully completed, such as “titanium dioxide-coated glass foams for wastewater treatment”, are directly related to the planned network activity (micro-plastics) and therefore qualify the Chair of Technical Chemistry to the highest degree for a promising cooperation.
